Playing With Heart

Both J.R. and Traeson showed what it's like to play with a lot of heart today. I couldn't be more proud of both of them.
J.R. has been sick all week. He has had a high fever, and been in bed since Thurs afternoon. This morning he got up, got dressed, filled up on ibuprophen (more than medically advised I'm sure) and headed off to his game. When he got there the quarterback of his team didn't come to the game, because he had a headache. Wow, seriously?! But J.R. stepped up and gave it his all. He played hard every down and left it all on the field. His team lost, but J.R. had one of his best games. He threw for a TD and proved that Champions play through the pain.
Traeson's team played Sky View and they were both undefeated before today. They had a dog fight of a game. The SV coaches had scouted his team and were keying on Traeson pretty hard. He took some hard hits but just kept fighting. He scored 2 TD including the game winning TD with less than a minute remaining. He scored this on nothing but refusal to lose will power. The video doesn't give this justice. It was a fantastic run where he just refused to go down.

After the game the coach gave Traeson the game ball for "Giving the team his heart."

It was a great day for the Martindale boys!!

Another Great Saturday!!

We started the morning off at Sky View with J.R.'s team. He played great and had some really nice hits, but his team just couldn't pull it off. He got his right hand smashed between to helmets in the first quarter and may have broken his hand (we'll decide on Xrays tomorrow), but he played through the pain and had a great game. Because I have to video him, there is no usable video - because I get so busy watching and cheering that I forget to keep the camera pointed at the field.
Then we finished the afternoon in Bear River with Traeson's team. He is the man of that team, running to then endzone 4 times in the first quarter!! They won 38 to 0. He's # 21.

He even got to play some other positions and had some great blocks.
